Professional Poker Players Succeed With Patience

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

One of the keys to success used by professional poker players is dealing with the reality that there will be periods of time in which they must ride out bad hands and judiciously await the time when the cards come their way.

Impatience is a near certain guarantee for losing at poker. A sure sign of impatience for poker players is when they try and force hands and not respect the odds and percentages of bad hands.
A fact of life for professional poker players is that there will be long periods of droughts with bad hands. The key is to accept that as part of the deal and to not try and force those bad hands with bad bets. Success at being a professional poker player is about preserving your chip stack bankroll in order to be able to strike when the cards start coming your way in later hands.

There is an old adage about the less hands that a poker player plays the more that he will win while the more hands that a poker player plays the more he will lose. Being selective and patient is a key to success as a professional poker player.

The one thing that you do not want to do as a professional poker player is play yourself out of the game by wasting your chip stack bankroll on bad hands. Consider your chips like an arsenal and remember that you will want to be well armed when you are rocking pocket rockets!
