There is no question that because of Black Friday more poker pros are playing in local casino cardrooms. There are still many poker professionals who play online but there are also a lot more playing live games than ever before. You might think that the poker pro would have an advantage playing in a live game and that is probably true in the long run but it is not true right away. There is an adjustment period for online poker pros who venture into local cardrooms.
Poker pros have had it very good for quite some time because of online poker sites. Going from online poker to cardroom poker for many of them is difficult. The pace of play is much slower in a live game than it was online and that is not the only difference. With online poker the pot odds are easy to calculate since the amount of money is always shown. That is not the case in a cardroom. Poker pros have to do all the calculations by looking at the chips in the pot. A professional poker player is capable of making adjustments but it is not as easy as you might think.
Another huge adjustment for the poker pro playing in a live game is the amount of money that is won or lost. Since there are fewer hands played it is not as easy to make up for a big loss. It takes far longer to recover from a big loss in live poker than it does online. Poker professionals also don’t make nearly as much money in live games because they simply don’t play as many hands which means the volume is lower.
Going from online poker games to live poker games can be done but
it is not as cut and dried as it seems. It takes even the best poker
players in the world some time to adjust to the difference between
online poker and live cardroom poker.
