There are almost as many paths to a career in online poker as there are players but the most important thing to keep in mind is that there are countless ways to live the dream of playing professionally thanks to online poker.

There are many veteran poker players who were playing professionally at live and in person poker rooms and tables that have since left those days behind to play for a living at online poker rooms. These old school players could not imagine a time where they would be able to play poker for any amount and at any time against anyone from the world right from their own homes but that day has come. These players combine their years of experience “on the street” with plenty of solid know how and fundamentals that make them formidable opponents. There was quite an adjustment to the pace and the strategy differences of online poker as well as the far more aggressive nature of the game but the best were able to succeed at the transition.

The newer breed of online poker players have never known any other way to play cards except online. These players never had a problem adjusting to the pace of online poker because they set it themselves. The newer players are able to read their fellow online poker competitors in expert manner as well as be able to better understand the new playbook and rules of the game that have changed the strategy upside down.

Professional poker players old and young make for fascinating matchups in which there is no great advantage either way. The best in the game combine the fundamentals of the old with the innovation of the new.
