Professional Poker Success Is Much about Positioning

Professional Poker has never been more competitive thanks in large part to the online poker craze that has taken everyone by storm. The opportunities to “go pro” are at an all time high and poker players from a generation ago can tell you that they never in their wildest dreams would have imagined what can be done in today’s world as far as having a career at playing cards.

A big factor in whether or not an online poker player becomes successful and turns pro is his success at dealing with positioning at the poker table.

Positioning is one of the two or three key factors to success and a player’s ability to go pro. The same hand of cards can often be played in an entirely different way depending on where you sit in position at the on line poker table. An early position often requires more patience and conservative moves and yet also offers good bluffing opportunities as long as the bluffing is rare. By the same time having a late position is often a luxury that ends up being taken for granted and blown due to over confidence or from a player that allows himself to be scared out of a good hand by a well timed bluff.

Becoming a student and expert at the art of positioning is one of the way in which you can assure yourself a career at professional poker. Those who develop the necessary expertise at positioning can often turn a bad set of cards into a lot of money. It’s a great weapon against players with better cards but lesser expertise at how to play them.
