Becoming a Professional Poker Player

So are you considering becoming a professional poker player? Do you often play at online poker sites and win money? You might think you are ready to be a poker pro? Let’s see if you are.

Here are some things to consider as you move from the amateur ranks at online poker sites to the pros. Do you have the bankroll required to become a professional poker pro? This is not as easy a question as you might think. If you are playing poker as your primary way of making money you had better have a big enough bankroll to both play and to pay bills for at least three months ahead of time.

The next question to ask as you venture into more serious online poker is whether or not your game will change with your bills on the line. If you think you will become less aggressive and your style will change with pressure on you then you better rethink going pro.

Another major question to ask yourself is whether or not you have been keeping track of your wins and losses. There should be no guess work here. You have either been winning a lot or you haven’t. And has this winning streak been for more than a couple of months? Has it been a year or more? If you don’t know then you better find out.

Can you play poker online and not feel like you have to beat the best players? Sometimes when you are a poker pro you will step down in competition so you can win money. Can you do that without your ego taking a hit?

You need to ask yourself all of these questions if you are considering becoming a professional poker player.
