Bankrolls for Professional Poker Players

How much money is needed for your online poker bankroll? The most important factor in deciding your poker bankroll is how much money you feel comfortable losing. There is always going to be a risk when playing poker and even professional poker players lose money.

Professional poker players know all about bankrolls. Most experts say not to buy into a limit game with less than 60 times the big blind. This would mean to be comfortable in a $2/4 game you would need $240. That is really not high enough. For you to have a bankroll that shows strength and power you need to have 200 times the big blind. In the previous example, that would mean $800 as a starting bankroll. Most people are not going to take that amount to a table that small, but remember that playing poker is very often about perception and professional poker players understand that and take enough money to be a force at the table.

If you have a large bankroll at the table then you could be perceived as a strong player. That perception can make you money. Once you know what your bankroll is you need to find a poker game where you can win without pressure. Your ego might like the higher limit poker games, but the lower limit online poker games may be better for your bankroll. Professional poker players have learned that lesson well.
