Professional Poker is a Business

Success at professional poker is widely different and is “relative” to what each individual professional poker player’s goals and needs are. Professional poker players are not all millionaires that make seven figure incomes every year. Some professional poker players may pull down as little as twenty or thirty thousand dollars per year, depending on their risk tolerance, skill level, and commitment. The one thing that all professional poker players have in common, however, is just that; PROFESSIONALISM! Professional poker is a business and professional poker players are businessmen.

The first thing that a businessman does is scope out a favorable business climate to further advance his agenda. In the case of a professional poker player, that means looking for every possible advantage and break for his bankroll. That means finding online poker sites with the best sign up and playing bonuses, the lowest rakes, the best paying tournaments, and the weakest competition. To put it all another way it means that a professional poker player must do his homework and study all of the factors from the aforementioned online poker room standards to assessing the competition at the tables. Yes, that means that a professional poker player must be an unapologetic “card shark.”

There can be no compassion or feelings for a professional poker player as the online poker world is the ultimate jungle in which players are playing for real money. Rest assured that your competition doesn’t give a damn about you, just your money and how they can beat you out of it!
