After serving almost four years with PokerStars as poker room manager, Lee Jones announced yesterday that he will step down to pursue other opportunities effective April 1st, 2007.
As poker room manager Jones was responsible for game and tournament planning, as well as customer interaction. Jones will continue to work for PokerStars as a consultant but his main focus will be the organization of, and TV commentary for the European Poker Tour. PokerStars is currently reviewing several candidates to fill the vacancy.
Jones announced the news briefly towards the end of PokerStars Sunday Million tournament and gave more details today in a post on the popular two plus two forums. Jones commented: "I’ve gotten to watch PokerStars go from a promising enterprise in third place on the online poker ladder to the clear market leader. And working hard daily to stay there. The people at PokerStars are an extraordinary bunch and I’ve been honored to be part of that team."
Lee Jones is also the author of the best-selling poker book "Winning Low Limit Hold'em" and a regular contributor to Card Player Magazine.
