Polish poker players will this year join thousands of their European
counterparts in following the European Poker Tour action, as the wide
ranging contest adds the Eastern European country to its list of venues.
Entering its third successful season, the Tour has added Warsaw to
its action-packed list leading up to the Monte Carlo Grand Finale,
and Poles will be able to check out the action, and maybe compete
in a four day Texas Hold 'Em championship with a +/- Euro 4 000 buy-in.
The inaugural Polish event will take place at the Hyatt Regency in
Warsaw between March 14 and 17, says EPT CEO John Duthie, adding that
the tournament will be capped at 300 players and won't be televised.
Online qualifiers for players with ambitions to win their way into
the event can do so at PokerStars.com which sponsors the EPT, where
buy-ins for online qualifiers are available for as little as $11,
and successful players can win a prize package to the event that includes
the Euro 4 000 buy-in and other perks.
Last season, the EPT paid out more than $12 million to contestants,
and already this year the tour has paid out more than $10 million
with five events still remaining in the season.
Next stop for the EPT will be the Scandinavian Open in Copenhagen
Denmark between January 17-21, followed by events in France, Germany,
Poland and Monaco.
