Party Poker's new German Open poker competition action started today
(Tuesday) in London. The Internet's largest poker site is sponsoring
the event, which features 36 top German-speaking poker players and
celebrities.
The first place winner will take home the grand prize of Euro 50 000.
At Euro 2 500 it's an expensive buy-in, but this level creates a total
prize pool of over Euro 117 000 euros. PartyPoker has already contributed
a large percentage of the up front financing.
Famous Germans around the Celebrity table include Rudiger Abramzik,
Klaus Baumgart, Lou Richter, Uli Stein, and Ramon Vega. The winner
of this group will earn a spot in the main tournament and go head-to-head
with a real poker professional.
Some of the top professional poker players participating are Mike
Keiner, Lothar Landaur and Eddie Scharf, players with impressive European
and international poker track records. A Party Poker spokesman says
that online players who have honed their skills to the required levels
will also be playing - some for the first time in a live tournament.
