Boss Media, a Swedish Internet gambling software and service provider for several leading online poker rooms, including CelebPoker, has said it will ban all U.S. residents from accessing any software or financial services it provides.

In a press release Boss blamed the ban on the recent passage of H.R. 4411, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, in the U.S. Congress, and the imminent enactment of the law, which is expected to be signed by U.S. president George W. Bush this month.

The Boss press release announced:

"On Friday, 29 September, a bill that will ban Internet gambling payment processing in the United States was added to another proposed bill on national security, which most likely soon will be passed in its entirety.

"As the bill on banned Internet gambling payment processing services in the United States turns into formal law, Boss Media AB will immediately take action to block American players resident in the United States from accessing any such services and software provided by Boss Media."

The company admits the enactment of H.R. 4411 in the United States will have a negative effect on net sales and earnings, and thus profit forecasts made earlier this year will be lower than anticipated.
