PartyPoker.com has announced that for the third year running players
can qualify online for the Aussie Millions, the southern hemisphere's
premier poker event.
The Aussie Millions takes place between 6 - 19 January 2007 at the
Crown Casino in Melbourne, with an estimated prize pool of over Aus$5
000 000.
For each online qualifier, PartyPoker.com is offering a package valued
at US$12 000, which includes the main event buy-in, accommodation
at the opulent Crown Entertainment Complex and spending money.
Last year, two PartyPoker.com players made it to the final table during
the first live event, scooping over Aus$600 000 in prize money between
them. One of these players was Shannon Shorr, who took his online
skills into the live environment and is now regarded as one of the
finest players on the world scene. The winner in 2006 was Kiwi Lee
Nelson, who took home Aus$972 000 – a nice little earner for
a player who destroyed the field in the PartyPoker.com World Open
the year before.
Last year, many of the biggest stars in world poker were in attendance
and 2007 promises to be no different. Fox Sports will be filming the
entire event from the Crown's lavishly refurbished 50-table poker
room.
A PartyPoker.com spokesman said: "The Aussie Millions was
one of the most popular tournaments with our players last year and
one where many of our regular players succeeded in showing up the
pros. It really has all the ingredients for an amazing trip –
it's the middle of the Australian summer and in Melbourne there is
plenty of top quality sport to see when not at the tables such as
the Australian Open Tennis Championship."
Players can qualify for as little as US$3 and there are plenty of
daily and weekly qualifiers available.
