May 19, 2006 - Sabina Gadecki, a former Miss Poland, is the new Season V hostess of the World Poker Tour. Courtney Friel did an excellent job hosting Season IV but she never quite matched the spontaneity and humor of Shana Hiatt, the very successful hostess of the first three seasons. Though Shana Hiatt can't be replaced, Ms Gadecki seems to come very close.
May 16, 2006 - F-Secure corporation, a Finnish security firm, released an advisory today for a rackeback calculator (RBCalc.exe) available from the poker site CheckRaised.com. The software secretly installed a Trojan on it's users computers, designed to steal login info for various poker sites, including PartyPoker and Empire Poker.
May 14, 2006 - Ed Miller, the author of "Getting Started in Holdem" and co-author of "Small Stakes Holdem, has released a four part DVD set called "Expert Hold $Em series". The DVD set is aimed at intermediate to advanced poker players and now available online from UK and US stores.
May 9, 2006 - According to InfoPowa News, Cassava Enterprises, the owner of Casino on Net (888.com) and Pacific Poker, is heavily involved in blog spamming, site scraping and other unethical methods to gain more traffic to their sites. There's also evidence they have been one of the biggest users of Gator, WhenU, and other malwares for years.

May 6, 2006 - The state of Washington quietly passed a bill that makes playing online poker illegal. The bill, SB 6613, will officially take effect on June 7th, 2006. From then on the mere act of playing poker on the Internet in Washington State could get you in prison for 10 years, the maximum penalty associated with a Class C Felony.
