Bluff Magazine revealed in a press release this week that it's readers have voted Phil Ivey as the 2005 Poker Player of the Year. Bluff Magazine's Player of the Year is based on the accumulation of points in Bluff/ESPN Power Ranking for poker players.

Sometimes called the "Tiger Woods of Poker", because of the maniacal intensity he studies and plays the game, Phil Ivey is one of the most respected and successful players in the poker circuit. Among the many feats the young player accomplished in 2005 are:

  • Accumulated $3,333,426 in tournament winnings;
  • Winner of the Full Tilt Poker Invitational in Monte Carlo;
  • Winner of the Monte Carlo Millions in Monte Carlo;
  • World Series of Poker bracelet in Pot Limit Omaha;
  • Two final World Poker Tour tables.

"I'm honored to win the Bluff Magazine Player of the Year award and to be recognized by such a great media outlet as Bluff Magazine," said Ivey.

Phil Ivey can often be found playing high limit poker at the Bellagio or sitting in some of the largest private cash games in the world with Doyle Brunson and Chip Reese. You can play against Phil Ivey online at his site, Full Tilt Poker.
