The WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open started this Friday. The tournament offers ten No Limit and Limit Texas Holdem events, culminating in the final WPT championship event on Sunday, January 29th. The winner of the $10,000 buy-in WPT main event walks home with an estimated $1 million first prize, a Cadillac Escalade and a $25,000 seat into the WPT's World Championship.
One lucky player, who will be randomly selected from all entrants of the first eight events, will also win a Cadillac Escalade. A special charity tournament will be hosted for the Gabe Kapler Foundation, a charity run by Boston Red Sox outfielder, Gabe Kapler, dedicated to stopping domestic violence. The winner of the charity event earns a ticket into the WPT main event.
The WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open was added by the WPT to it's fourth season in November last year. The Borgata already hosts another WPT event, The Borgata Poker Open, which makes the Winter Open the second WPT tournament hosted by The Borgata. Hardly surprising, as this casino is the premier poker destination in Atlantic City, and has big plans for expansion this year.
