PartyGaming launches fully integrated gaming platform

February 26, 2006 - PartyGaming has launched it's fully integrated gaming platform that allows players to play in PartyPoker and PartyCasino from one single account. The launch was combined with a new release of the PartyPoker software, with substantial usability improvements.

Barry Greenstein wins Commerce Casino's WPT Invitational

February 26, 2006 - Barry Greenstein, better known as the "Robin Hood of Poker", has won the WPT Invitational at L.A.'s Commerce Casino. Living up to his reputation Greenstein will donate the $100,000 first prize to Children, Incorporated, a charity that provides food, clothing, medical and school supplies for children all over the world.

Retired stock trader Alan Goehring wins LA Poker Classic

February 26, 2006 - The L.A. Poker Classic was won by Alan Goehring. The L.A. Poker Classic is the first of two WPT events that are hosted by the Commerce Casino this year. Goehring takes home the largest first prize in the history of the WPT, a whopping $2.4 million dollar.

UltimateBet licensor Excapsa floats on London AIM

February 19, 2006 - Excapsa Software Inc, the poker software firm that powers UltimateBet, successfully floated on the London Alternative Investment Market (AIM) this week at a placing price of 110p per share. The company raised £22.4 million (net proceeds), and now has a market value of £214.2 million.

Full Tilt Poker ups the ante in WSoP promotions

February 19, 2006 - Online poker rooms are already gearing up en masse for the 2006 World Series of Poker which is scheduled to begin on June 25th in the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. But when it comes to WSoP promotions, Full Tilt Poker has just upped the ante by announcing the richest World Series of Poker promotions in history.

Antigua says U.S. fails to comply with WTO gambling ruling

February 19, 2006 - A spokesman for the tiny island state of Antigua and Barbuda, a popular licensing jurisdiction for internet gambling companies, says the U.S. doesn't comply with a WTO ruling from last year that stated the U.S. discriminates against internet gambling companies operating from Antigua.

Empire Online settles with PartyGaming (2)

February 13, 2006 - Empire Online filed suit against PartyGaming late last year in Gibraltar, following Party's decision to separate it's poker platform from that of it's skins. Empire Online has now released a statement saying it is in "advanced discussions" with PartyGaming to settle the dispute.

Travel Channel and World Poker Tour make up

February 5, 2006 - The Travel Channel and WPT Enterprises have resolved their dispute regarding the Professional Poker Tour. The Professional Poker Tour will now air on the Travel Channel after completion of World Poker Tour's Season IV. WPT Enterprises originally had plans to sell the Professional Poker Tour to ESPN, but the Travel Channel claimed WPT Enterprises had no authority to sign such a deal.

Ladbrokes to break Norwegian betting monopoly?

February 5, 2006 - Amidst rumors that Ladbrokes has refused a GBP 4 million take-over bid by a private equity firm, and a "bidding war" is imminent, the Hilton owned company made a significant step forward in it's battle against European state-licensed betting monopolies.

SEC subpoenas operator of DoylesRoom.com

February 5, 2006 - In December last year we reported that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating a $700 million offer for California-based WPT Enterprises (World Poker Tour) made on behalf of Doyle Brunson by the Las Vegas law firm Goodman & Chesnoff PC. This week the news surfaced that the SEC has now subpoenaed Wallace Nakano, the operator of DoylesRoom.com, twice as part of it's investigation.

Michael Mizrachi wins the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open

February 5, 2006 - Michael Mizrachi, also known as "The Grinder", has won the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open, only one week after finishing second in the WPT Gold Strike World Poker Open in Tunica. The soon-to-be father took home $1,173,373 in cash, a Cadillac Escalade and an entry into the WPT championship for his efforts.

Pacific Poker's owner 888 Holdings reports excellent quarter

February 5, 2006 - 888 Holdings, the owner of the world's largest online casino 888.com (Casino on Net), and the fourth largest online poker room Pacific Poker, reported excellent results for the quarter ending 31 December, 2005. Casino revenues were only up one percent, but poker revenues soared to $36 million, an increase of 22 percent.
