The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation today announced their upcoming “65 Roses Texas Hold’em Poker Challenge,” a three-day, celebrity-studded poker tournament and fundraising event November 1-3, 2005 at the Morongo Casino, Resort and Spa in Cabazon, CA.
The host for this event is the brand new $250 million Morongo Casino, Resort and Spa, located just 16 miles west of Palm Springs, California. The tournament itself will be held in the 12,500 square foot grand ballroom. Two nights of entertainment are planned at the fabulous night club and beach area of the resort. Special rates are also available for guests wishing to stay at the resort.
"We are very excited about being part of the hottest game in America, Texas Hold'em Poker," said Michael Shumard, director of special events, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. "Charity poker tournaments are popular events and we're very happy to be one of the leading organizations benefiting from the generosity of businesses like Alamo Poker, Morongo Casino, and Fox Sports Net."
The celebrities who are scheduled to attend are also excited to participate. Jennifer Tilly, best known for her Oscar-nominated role in Bullets over Broadway, as well as roles in Liar, Liar and The Bride of Chuckie, is also the reigning Ladies No Limit Texas Hold’em Champion from the World Series of Poker. "Three days of poker and fun, all benefiting Cystic Fibrosis– it's going to be a wild time," said Tilly. "Everyone better bring their A-game, because I won’t be holding back.”
The Tournament structure will also create increased excitement as the goal of this event is to hold a “fun” competition where there are no losers. To maximize the opportunity for all participants to have a great time at this fall’s Hottest Party in the Desert, the cost of admission and re-buys is geared to everyone’s pocketbook. Three events are being run under the umbrella of the 65 Roses Tournament. Entries range from $150 to win $5,000 to $250 to win $12,500 to $500 to win $27,500.
