Card Player Magazine recently received a financial injection from a group of private investors, including some very well known and respected professional poker players like Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and Jennifer Harman, as well as Hollywood stars Laura Prepon, Danny Masterson, and Chris Masterson.
Card Player Magazine has been the number #1 poker magazine for almost two decades, and is apparently looking to grow it's business, by expanding into new markets for delivering content. The magazine currently has a monthly circulation of nearly 500,000, and it's online website, CardPlayer.com, is one of the leading poker portals on the Internet.
Barry Shulman, Card Player Media's chairman, said the capital was raised in order to "help Card Player expand its reach into new and exciting markets and applications", and to "keep Card Player at the cutting edge of all the new and exciting ways to deliver content". He wasn't more specific than that but made a promise that "great things are on the horizon".
We here at professional-poker.com are not gifted with a lot of imagination, so when Barry talked about new media, we couldn't help envisioning a "Card Player TV show", fed with quality information from the poker pros slash investors, and produced by co-investor Laura Prepon, who, after all, is also the executive producer of E! Hollywood Hold'em, a TV series about Hollywood people playing Texas Hold 'Em poker.
