Mads Junker, the star striker of the Danish major league soccer club Nordsjælland, cheated his teammates for over a year at a poker game they played during off hours. The amount of Danish Kroners involved is subject to heavy speculation, and fluctuates from 50 kroners (according to the team captain) to thousands of kroners (according to the Copenhagen Post).

Nordsjælland is the youngest club in Danish major league soccer. They were founded in 1991 as Farum Boldklub, renamed to FC Nordsjælland in 2001, and promoted to the Danish major league in 2002. Mads Junker is one of their star players and recently transferred from Brøndby IF to FC Nordsjælland.

The players used to play Texas Hold'em during off hours; after training, in the players' bus etc. Mads Junker was caught cheating, and has since then admitted he had been doing so for over a year. The Wicked Chops Poker blog carried the inside scoop: "They always played with two decks and from what we know (and our sources are good) Mads had quite the mechanic grip. When he was dealing he secured himself good cards and only shuffled the bottom of the deck."

Mads Junker has made a public apology on Danish TV, and FC Nordsjælland most likely won't terminate it's contract with the star striker.
